Lunar New Year wishes- life update

Well, it's been quite some time since I last wrote a post. Exactly 5 weeks and 3 days, if we're counting. I like to think that not much has happened since then but I guess there have been things going on that are worth mentioning.

Now, I looked to see where I left off and I'm definitely pretty far behind on the updates. So, I guess to start off, we know the Rams won the Super Bowl, so that was pretty dope. And continued a strange chain of events. When the fam and I were in Disneyland, it was during the Lunar New Year celebration. In one part of California Adventure, they had an area where you can write down your wishes for the new year, so we all participated in this activity. My wishes were for "health, wealth, and possible new life. And the Rams to win the Super Bowl." So to start off, one of those wishes came true when the Rams won. I knew that it was a 50/50 shot of that happening but it was still a funny turn of events. Things, however, started getting a little strange after that.

We filed our taxes and ended up getting a pretty sizable return, which was dope, as well as I updated my resume and I started getting interest from recruiters. (sounds like wealth to me.) The tax return definitely helped our financial situation. Unfortunately, the recruiting didn't amount to much and I was initially sad about that because one of the jobs would have been a pretty big raise from what I'm currently earning, but I figure if it was meant to be, it would have. Thankfully, however, things started to align at work, and after 5 months of being a useless, warm body, I now finally have a purpose again and have moved into a sales support role. I've never really had any interest in being in sales but I like the data entry and processing, responding to customers, and just generally having tasks to do. I finally get to be useful and it has given me a new found purpose (at least for the time being.) I would say that it still counts towards wealth, because then the more that I can learn and accomplish in this role, the more ammo I can have to ask for a raise later this year. (at least a damn cost of living increase. Good lord gas, and everything else, is fucking expensive.)

Now, another weird turn of events, around the same time period, I was approached on IG by a fitness influencer, @dalalovesdumbbells. She has built a large following and runs her own fitness company offering personal training, nutrition support, and the likes. I've been following her for years and always admired her from afar, so I found it really weird that she messaged me. I guess this was probably a marketing tactic they have developed that elicits new customers, and it didn't exclude me. Her and I talked over the course of a few days where she asked about my current fitness, my goals, etc and offered a free orientation-like meeting with one of her employees, to determine if I would be a fit for the company as a client. By the end of the meeting, I did feel a little obligated to fork over the money for 6 months of personal training, but I ultimately decided that this might be the push I need to finally start seeing results and for someone to hold me accountable. Plus, she and her company are a real no bullshit, evidence-based practice with trainers, RD's, a PA, and whatever other types of professionals she has hired. It was a hefty amount to front but I'm hoping it will pay off in the end. I finally feel like I'm in a mindset to make these changes to my health and follow through with them. I've always failed at the follow through in the past and the only time I had ever lost weight intentionally was when I was amidst an eating disorder. I want to be healthier, stronger, and look better. Even if it is at a weight that sits higher than I would like, as long as I can feel comfortable in my body and perform well in softball, I would be happy with that. I'm almost at 4 weeks in. I've definitely made some good changes to my health like eating much more protein, trying to monitor my fiber and bowel movements, getting regular exercise and hitting step goals. I haven't been 100% perfect but I've overall been more consistent than I have with anything in my life related to my weight. I haven't really seen a difference in my weight yet but I'm working on staying the course and we will probably make some macro/calorie adjustments to I can hopefully start seeing the scale move. (the health portion of my LNY wish)

To round out the update of my Lunar New Year wishes, the hope for new life. Sophisti-spouse and I did have our follow up conversation about how we feel about having a baby. He has said he will never feel 100% confident and ready for a baby but he understands my point of view and that we shouldn't wait too much longer. The plan we have now is one more follow-up conversation in August and as long as we're still on the same page, the baby-making will commence this fall, which I am excited for.

For right now, that's the gist of my life update. I will eventually do a goals update here soon and I have some ideas for new posts as well. I have gotten much busier since I started writing on this blog, so bear with me. I will try to post at least 1x/mo (maybe more, but let's not get ahead of ourselves lol.)

To anyone who as taken the time to read this and provide support for my blog, thank you! I hope to continue this journey and see where it goes!
