What the fuck is "Sophisticated Sweatpants?"

Hey everyone, so I'm sure anyone who is reading this is wondering, what kind of blog name is "Sophisticated Sweatpants" and where did this come from? Well, here's how it came to be:

So, in general, I find adults wearing joggers a really amusing concept. Don't get me wrong, I love me some joggers and have a few pairs of my own. Nonetheless, I think they're hilarious. To me, when I see adults wearing joggers, it looks like adults wearing baby pants, like infant pants. It looks like we're all overgrown babies with our joggers. I may be alone in the sentiment but that's how my mind works and that's how I address myself and others who are rocking joggers.

Anyway, one day my coworker and I were talking about joggers, and I don't recall exactly how he said it (whether it was him or his friends that came up with it,) but he said that joggers were basically civilized sweatpants. Me, being the person I am, started laughing hysterically and thought it was greatest saying I had heard in a hot minute. I even wrote it down in my phone so I wouldn't forget.

After some time had passed since that conversation, I got it in my mind in early 2021 that I wanted to start a podcast. (I still have yet to actually pull the trigger on the podcast as of Sept 2021, but I had good intentions.) I wrote down a list of potential names, soliciting ideas from the people around me and referencing back to that conversation with my coworker, I wrote down "sophisticated sweatpants" not realizing that isn't the verbiage we used in the past. I realized I wrote it incorrectly but I also enjoyed the phrase "sophisticated sweatpants" so I wrote down both versions. Once I started narrowing down my list of ideas, in conjunction with the type of content I wanted for my podcast, it came down to some sort of sweatpants idea. I asked my mom and she asked her coworkers which version they preferred as some feedback and the majority felt "sophisticated sweatpants" was more ideal. From there, "Sophisticated Sweatpants" was born. I felt it was a great summary of the essence of my personality. I'm someone that can't be bothered with dressing like an adult, let alone a presentable human being most of the time. I like to live my life with an adjustable waistband, especially after gaining that pandemic 20, so I figured the best I could do to not look like a homeless degenerate on a given day was to wear joggers (aka baby pants, aka civilized/sophisticated sweatpants.)

So why did this title end up being used for this blog instead of a podcast? Well, in the future, I hope to eventually start the podcast as a supplementary addition to this blog that will be of the same name. But starting on a blog with the name seemed like an easier task to start with. And now were here!
